DOT Installs New Speed Bumps!
The New Auchentoroly Terrace Association thanks the Baltimore City Department of Transportation and Councilman James Torrence for installing speed bumps on Ruskin Avenue and Orem Avenue. In May of 2021 residents living on Ruskin and Orem said they wanted speed bump to slow down the motorists using our neighborhood as a short cut and speeding along their streets. Residents were routinely be being faced down by cars driving at excessive, dangerous speeds, often times being run off their own block. ATA met with DOT and the 7th District Council Office to review our traffic calming needs. We also placed 311 requests with DOT and were told that due to the pandemic there was a lengthy waiting list for traffic calming requests like ours. For the past two years ATA, Councilman James Torrence’s Director of Communications & Legislative Affairs Javas Raghavan, and DOT Laison Eric James continued to work together to ensure that DOT would install the speed bumps. Finally, in late April / early May 2023 DOT constructed our speed bumps on Orem and Ruskin. The speed bumps have greatly reduced the the number of drivers speeding down our side streets. Thank you DOT, Javas, Councilman Torrence, and the residents who continue to advocate for their blocks!
